Best New Christmas Songs of 2014 (VIDEOS)

It's the most wonderful time of the year! The middle of December, when you are still in the Christmas spirit and not yet wanting to off yourself due to the never ending Christmas carols.

I mean, I don't know how one could ever get sick of Mariah Carey's Christmas album (as it is a true classic of classics) but sometimes you just get to that breaking point. Some people don't like listening to the classics every year and if you are one for new songs instead, this list is for you.

Here are the best and brightest of the Christmas releases for 2014 (so far...)

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas - Sam Smith
Sam Smith really broke out in North America this year, so it is only fitting that you end your year listening to Sam sing a classic.

I'll Be Home - Meghan Trainor
It's true - Meghan Trainor sings something other than All About the Bass. Most notably - this Christmas song.

Do They Know It's Christmas - Band Aid 2014
This song was a little controversial when it came out...something to do with Africa and people being perturbed by the lyrics. Whatever - 1D, Ed and Ellie in a room - how can you throw shade at that? However, if I were to pick my all time 'a hundred famous musicians in a room singing' song, I would have to go with the Wavin' Flags one where Bieber sings at the end. It was when he was still young, wearing purple and had the floppy hair (aka before he turned into an uber douche).

Baby It's Cold Outside - Idina Menzel and Michael Buble
Idina and Michael put a twist on this classic, by making the actors children. Very cleaver. It takes away from the how rapey the song actually is (however if you listen to it sans video - it is still rapey as f-ck).

Mary Did You Know - Pentatonix
These guys were really popular last Christmas with their take on Little Drummer Boy. I am not a huge fan of this song in general, but I do like this version.

It's Christmas - David Myles
David Myles is so cute. I just want to pinch him (this is what old grannies must feel like right before they assault a child's cheeks). You are probably most familiar with this Maritimer for his feature in the Classified song Inner Ninja, but his own stuff is good. Love the folk.

Baby It Ain't Christmas Without You-Kris Allen
What has the former American Idol winner been up to lately? Well, clearly he has been completing his life long goal of writing a Christmas single.

Must Be Christmas - Band of Merrymakers
LOVE THIS. This group is made up of members from Lady Antebellum, Neon Trees, Fitz & The Tantrums, 311, Better Than Ezra, Smallpools, The Mowglis, 3oh!3, Sinclair, and The Honeymoons and a portion of the proceeds from the song goes to MusiCares Foundation. I mean, it's not saving Africa, but at least they are not reusing a song (uuuhem, I'm talking to you Band Aid.)
