The Polaris Prize short list was announced this morning. The Prize, given to the best Canadian full length album as decided by a large group of music journalists, went from a long list of 41 to a short list of 10.
Making the announcement was one of my favorites, Jay Baruchel. The Canadian actor was sporting a Montreal Canadians hat while he read through the list…extremely fast. So fast that they made him read it again. Oh Jay, I still love you. The short list was comprised of a bunch of repeats and some new comers, including Jessy Lanza – LOVE! Go Jessy Lanza Go!
The artists on the 2014 Polaris Prize Short list are:
Arcade Fire — Reflektor
Basia Bulat — Tall Tall Shadow
Mac DeMarco — Salad Days
Drake — Nothing Was The Same
Jessy Lanza — Pull My Hair Back
Owen Pallett — In Conflict
Shad — Flying Colours
Tanya Tagaq — Animism
Timber Timbre — Hot Dreams
YAMANTAKA // SONIC TITAN — UZU
The Polaris Prize gala will be broadcast on September 22.
XOXO
Jes…
Side Note: OMG Jay Baruchel is so cute. Remember when he was engaged to Allison Pill and I was devastated?! That was a dark time.
