At the BAFTA-LA gala on Saturday, Sacha Baron Cohen won the Charlie Chaplin Britannia Award for Excellence in Comedy. He was on stage with an old woman in a wheelchair who was supposedly Grace Collington, the last living actor who worked with Chaplin. She gave him a cane, he dances around the stage and then knocks her wheelchair off the stage and kills her.
SHOCKING.
Even though I would have known something outlandish was going to happen, I still would have been had by this prank if I was in the audience. The woman in the wheelchair was a stunt woman and this Grace lady is presumably still alive somewhere.
And then, in true Cohen fashion, Sacha still gave a speech. According to the LA Times Cohen said, “What a great way to go,” and then warned her relatives “Try and sue! She’s dead. Get over it.”
Rebel lighting of a joint vs. murder. No contest. Go cry yourself to sleep Cyrus.
XOXO
