McConaughey, Hathaway, Caine and Chastain head to Alberta to film Nolan's Interstellar

Get ready cow folks the stars are going to roll into town this summer. It has been reported that the Christopher Nolan directed sci-fi Interstellar is going to be filming outside of Calgary starting in August and will star Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Michael Caine and Jessica Chastain. Steven Spielberg is also listed as a producer.

Those are some huge names. Chastain and Hathaway were both nominated (with Hathaway winning) for Oscars last year and Michael Caine is...well, Michael Caine. McConaughey is kind of a dirty leather ball now, but still hot. All in all, a pretty good get for Alberta.

The movie is about the following (according to IMDB - the all seeing oracle of movie facts): "An exploration of physicist Kip Thorne's theories of gravity fields, wormholes and several hypotheses that Albert Einstein was never able to prove." (Whatever that means.)

Nolan previously filmed Oscar winning Inception in Alberta (Kananaskis) in 2009. I tried to go and stalk Leo, but it was up a snowy mountain and I had no desire to attempt snow shoes or jail.

Alberta has been the backdrop for a couple of recent productions including the AMC series Hell on Wheels, CBC's Heartland and the Ridley Scott mini-series Klondike which wraps filming next week.

If you were to pick which of the 4 stars you were going to try to catch a glimpse of when they are here who would it be? If you said Michael Caine I am air high fiving you from my couch. Michael Caine is the guy who the person you wish you could be wants to be. Make sense? Doesn't matter. Caine is rad.

Side Note: Hans Zimmer is going to score the film - which is f-cking AWESOME.

  1. It didn't make sense. And why Michael Caine? You should be looking for Matthew.
