Joan Rivers defends her Holocaust joke

Joan Rivers has been in the hot seat over the past couple of days for a joke that she made during a segment of The Fashion Police about Heidi Klums dress at the Oscars.

Klum is a notable German celebrity and of course whenever I think of her I think of the Holocaust so why not throw them together for humours sake, right Joan?

"The last time a German looked this hot was when they were pushing Jews into the ovens."

The joke, clearly referencing the Holocaust, has had people calling for an apology. Rivers has now released a statement saying she will not give one.

"It's a joke. This is the way I remind people about the Holocaust, I do it through humour. My husband lost his entire family in the Holocaust, so let's just start with that," said Rivers,

"Your generation doesn't even know what I'm talking about. By my doing a joke (it) gets them talking, thinking. Didn't bother Heidi, doesn't bother me. Why don't you worry about the anti-Semites out there (instead)?"

Joan, the only thing this gets us thinking about is why the hell you are still givin a platform to speak on TV. Remember when Seth McFarlane made a John Wilks Booth joke at the Oscars and then said "What, too soon?" It's not too soon, it just should never be a joke. Some things should never be used for humour and burning Jews alive is probably at the top of the list - even if you are one.
