Rookie Blue's Noam Jenkins makes his exit, Goodbye Jerry!

Is anyone out there watching Rookie Blue..that Canadian cop drama about rookie cops? I have seen a handful of episodes and I am not going to pretend I am a huge fan, but FACK. The last episode was a tear jerker.

I saw last weeks episode where Gail gets kidnapped after going undercover as a call girl. Since her abduction happened at the very end I was like, must make note to see if she dies next week.

So then this week officer black woman with blond dreads goes into labour and I am thinking...someone has to die. Rules of nature, if you have a birth someone has to die.

Of course I was thinking it was going to be blondy, but then BAM. Out of nowhere (OK you kind of saw it coming) Jerry gets knifed in the abdomen and bleeds out. Jerry was hot, so that was more sad than say, one of the ugly cops dying. And you had to feel sorry for his fiancee, Traci...who didn't even know that he died because she was helping the other officer have her baby.

For those of you who saw it, this is for you. How shitty would you feel if you were Andy and Sam? They were originally supposed to go to the cab drivers house and decided on the restaurant instead. Then Jerry had to go alone and he died.

I can't believe that wasn't the season finale! The next episode is going to be intense. I hope there is a cat fight.

UPDATE: Wow, I can't believe the response that this post has received.

A lot of you are wondering why the producers of the show decided to kill Noam Jenkins' character, Jerry. I was quite perplexed about the whole thing as well because he didn't really seem like a disposable character (but, as I stated previously, I am not an expert on the show so I thought...maybe he was) and after the emails and comments received I know that you, the fans, think the same thing.  I did a little bit of investigating for ya'll and this is what I got back from the production team.

"On “Rookie Blue” we always strive to tell honest and compelling storylines that are true to the experiences of young police officers.

Working the front lines on the streets, officers face the possibility that they are putting their lives on the line each and every shift. And sometimes, despite everyone's best efforts, good officers fall in the line of duty – a sad reality that every police officer must live with.

In order to be true to the experiences of these police officers, we knew we had to bring this possibility home, and make it painfully real. After a certain point, a show about the danger officers face on the job needs to have real consequences, or it starts to become unbelievable. We also knew that in order for that story to have the appropriate impact, the fallen officer had to be someone that would break our own hearts to lose – as well as the hearts of the characters, and the audience.

The decision pained us greatly – not only because of our love for the character of Detective Jerry Barber, but because of our great affection and admiration for the phenomenal actor who portrays him, Noam Jenkins. But because we knew we would all miss him so much, we also knew it was the right creative decision -- and would provide the heart and soul for a dramatic, emotional, 2-part storyline that would affect and challenge our rookie and senior officers tremendously, as they tried to pick up the pieces and continue to serve and protect.”

This has the same kind of ring of the post that one of the writers, Noelle Carbone, posted on the Twitter.  (Click here)

Basically, they're saying that they are trying to keep the show real...and unfortunately that means killing off people that the fans grow to love.

This doesn't mean that Noam did or didn't want to leave the show, just that...sometimes, it happens.

XOXO
Jes...

    1. I love Rookie Blues, my favorite show. I am an American. I'm sorry that you feel that way , we are not all like that. However I don't feel that it was Jes intent to insult the show. Hope everyone has a good day.

    2. I've watched Rookie Blue for all three seasons so far and I'm American. Also, I have downloaded a couple of episodes via iTunes. There is nothing wrong with the show in my opinion and whether Canadian or American it makes no difference. ABC seems to launch some pretty successful shows like Castle, Revenge and Body of Proof. One thing I will say is there surely are a lot of horney police officers in this Canadian police department. That's probably a reflection of real life as well and is not a judgement on my part. Actually, I'm amused by it. I'll continue to watch and I'm glad to see ABC has already picked RB up for another season.

    5. I love rookie blue and I have seen every episode, the cop I love is the person from Baltimore Maryland the only one from America, Sam) I think it is a cutie. I was sad when they killed of Noam Jenkins, I could not believe it, everything was going through my mind from the pairing him with the Black rookie, I thought ok viewers will not like that, but it is a new day, or is it. I want everything back from the first season, OK change is good I love the characters, the cop that left NY and then found out the child was not his, great television, and I thought this was going to be just another cop show but the bipolar cop great writing scary but great writing. Then blonde cop was held hostage I was so involved with that show. Are they going to make her a lesbian now? I hope not she should be with a nice person (not that there is anthing wrong with that) but it is so over, with Grey's and Modern family and other shows

    6. Hahahahahaha wow, I am neither US-American nor Canadian, nor from elsewhere in the Anglo-saxon world. I love the show and you need to pipe down. At no stage did Jes voice any criticism, this was a very neutral post overall and was about one specific episode. This is not a show review, it is a commentary on one episode. Get over yourself. If anything you have just proven via your knee-jerk reaction how shallow and prejudiced you are, by jumping to the conclusion that Jes is from the US and therefore inherently critical of all things Canadian. I have a substantial degree of prejudice towards US-Americans, but I am aware of it, where it comes from, and of the fact that it is not appropriate or fair or justified in a lot of cases. You seem to lack self-reflective skills.

  4. Funny how no one thought it was kind of offensive and stupid to reference one of the actresses as "officer black woman". If you can't even take the time to learn the names of the characters it's probably not a good idea to write about the show eh?

    1. That was the first thing I noticed. That was pretty offensive...and ignorant as shit.

    2. I noticed that as well. Probably should did the homework on cast name before writing something as stupid as that.

    3. Omfg yes so true .... That was my thought exactly. Could not have said it better myself.

    4. Agree with that. This "article" was insulting and poorly written at that. Jes needs to continue her education and mature a little bit before posting things she might regret later in life.

    5. Definitely agree about this. Noelle's story line is great too and although she refer's to herself as black, as I would refer to myself as black, in the start of the season where herself and officer wining-station: Diaz wins some award, it does not give Jes the right to refer to her very poorly. Because there is a certain way to insult someone if you don't like them as I just did, see I don't like Diaz's character - not because it was poorly written but because he comes off as a hot mess and no-one says anything insulting about him because he is a tall, dark and handsome actor - who ironically can't act.

    6. Sometimes when you are writing on these blogs, you forget the characters names, especially when these characters are new to television, I have never seen any of these people before Rookie Blue, and I had to go on IMDB to learn who they were and where they came from. It is ok not to have the characters name from a new show that has now made a name for all the characters in the show; we can now look for them in other shows to come. In addition, being an African American woman, this show is new I just happened on this site and saw you people talking about it, I just researched the people on the show, and I still cannot remember her name I just know she studied in Canada. Stop being so sensitive geez try being a little more HUMAN. IT IS TV NOT REAL. Now everyone will be watching for them in movies and on the Broadway stage, look what XMen No you did not, now you do. Get a grip already.

  5. I noticed that also. If you don't know the cast then your not paying attention to the show. Pretty shitty article if you ask me. I love this show because it keeps me interested. Reality TV shows can just get canceled as far as I am concerned. Stupidest thing ever put on TV. They need to make more TV shows like Rookie Blue, Dallas, NCIS, NCIS LA, Criminal Minds, ect...

  10. Love the show. Wish they did not 'off' Jerry. Loved his character.

  11. Seriously all you people need to relax about someone writing about a tv show! It's a great show leave all the other drama out of it for goodness sake! Why do people make something out of nothing seriously! Just enjoy the show !

    1. For real! Obviously this is a casual, gossipy entertainment/celebrity blog. It's like chatting with your friend about a TV show, not an article in the New York Times! I don't see how ANYONE could think it's insulting to Canada, sheesh. What was stated that was offensive? Talk about bored people on the internet picking fights over nothing.

Anyway, I've seen only a handful of episodes myself and only know a couple names. I missed last week's episode and only realized that Jerry's dead as I watch tonight's episode. I wonder why the actor decided to depart...

    2. I'm sorry but expecting the person writing an article on the show to know names of the cast is hardly making something out of nothing.

  14. I agree with most of you. It is a great show. I'm so tired of the networks cancelling good shows and keep putting stupid reality shows on TV. I would like to know why Noam Jenkins left the show? Where is he going to next? Is he going to play a more active role in Covert Affairs? If anyone knows please post!

  15. If you check IMDB, Noam Jenkins made a made for TV this year that is in post production, and is working on a video game. He also directs and produces. Maybe he had to chose the projects that were most important to him. I was sad to see the character of Jerry die. Noam is a very good actor, and made Jerry a very likeable character. RIP Detective Jerry Barber.

  16. so sad to see a good character leave a show. And yes finally a good Canadian show. I am very happy to see that yes us Canadians can put on a good TV show for all to see. I am tired of getting into an American TV show and then bang it gets cancelled, that just frustrates me to no end. ANd then the other thing is when you go to the American web sites to watch the show or trailers, and you get oh sorry this is not available in your viewing area. WHAT THE????? come on now why are we Canadians banded from watching those things on ABC, CBS and NBC? Cannot figure that out pretty sad considering the USA is our neighbour.

  20. I want to know also. He was great on the show and him and Traci had a great relationship. Why did they kill him off the show? I've been trying to find it on the internet and I'm not getting the answer. He must have wanted to leave the show, because I don't think the producers would have been stupid enough to write him off otherwise.

  21. I love Canadian shows. They actually have THOUGHT go into them and not some mindless HOLLYWOOD babble. Flashpoint was a great show and it was Canadian!!! Rookie Blue is another really good show and it is Canadian!! I'm American but I prefer watching all these hunks on the Canadian produced shows. Much better acting, much better scripts. I mean really who wants to watch a REALITY Tv show about a 4yr old country kid from middle America???? REALLY?????? Canada keep those wonderfully written shows coming....

I Cried like a baby when they killed Jerry. I was like How could you. I really miss the character Jerry so much already and the actor that playd him is the best. Jerry will always be missed on Rookie Blue.

  27. I'm dutch and in the Netherlands we enjoy Roockie blue very much. I'm a police officer my self and i can say, the show is very close to reality wich makes it more fun to watch. very real..except for the office romances and "uni's" doing detective work. that being said...I must say Detective Jerry Barber did not have to die! this is very shocking...but what to do. Rookie blue Rocks, and all who disagrees suck! Much love to Canada from Europe.

  29. Hey all

Know it is a bit late just saw episode last night, and as all have seen Noam Jenkins in Covert Affairs he is probably better off in that show well that's if where I saw him. I was soooo shocked, not that this ex doctor would know to stab that part of the abdomen and then twist but that this character survived for so long after, it was like what? is that how painful that would be to know of your impending doom for so long man the writers are good as this is just based on reality but the psychological stuff they capture is quite good to watch like when Dov shot that kid, I was like woe? what happened I needd to watch this whole series again. Seriously from the very begining.

  35. I started watching RB this yr & fell in love w/it. I Googled it & didn't know it started back in 2010, I thought it was brand new. I love all the characters & am watching all the reruns to catch up on Ion tv. I love the Andy & Sam relationship & hope they stay togethe, but detest that when the season ended that Sam's ex-Ms. Nasty is pregnant & might be his! Writers, I hope you don't chose to go there because 1. Sam & Andy belong together for the long hull & I will stop watchin it if it is Sam's kid 2. You shouldn't portray the fact that kids are brought into the world from people's stupidity of not using birth control & making babies like it's nothing. Then using them as pawns for people the rest of their lives. It's bad enough there's another show having black/white relationships which I'm against. If that makes me racist, oh well. I don't believe in it & I hate that tv shoves it in my face. Even Disney w/the younger kids relationships. It may be true in real life & this show claims to make it as such, but I don't need it thrown at me. I what more MeTv & older programs where none of this is portrayed- those relationships or babies made out of wedlock & pure stupidity.
