When will this not be news? The Silver Fox is Gay

This morning an open letter by Anderson Cooper to a journalist was published. In it Anderson talks about why he keeps his private life private and reasons why he has never publicly announced that he was gay.

The fact is, I'm gay, always have been, always will be, and I couldn’t be any more happy, comfortable with myself, and proud.

Myself, along with any other person in the word who has even an ounce of 'gaydar', knew this eons before he made the public announcement. I have found that most of the people who have 'come out' in recent months are all people that I assumed were not closeted.

I had wondered why Anderson was in the closet, but his letter does explain in more detail why he liked to keep his private life private due to his journalistic work and the places he used to go. He didn't say this, but I am assuming it had something to do with the places he would go interview where they throw people in jail for being gay or worse. This I understand.

Now that Anderson is a full on talk show host that isn't an issue anymore. It was time.

What this revelation/confirmation brings to the table is...why is it still such a big deal for a person in the entertainment industry to be gay? Why is it a big deal for anyone to proudly fly their rainbow flag high? This is a topic that I rarely cover on this blog because it pisses me off so much the posts get to long and I get rage exhausted.

Good for Anderson. Now I need to go get in a bar fight to forget about all the ass holes in the world that make things like this so f-cking difficult.
