There are some very hot tickets in this city during the Calgary Stampede. Some people dream of making it through the line to Nashville North, others get their hands on a coveted ticket for one of the private events at Fort Calgary.
On Wednesday night the annual Stampede Roundup rocked the ground to a sold out to a crowd of over 15,000 people. What. A. Gonger.
Everyone knows that corporate Calgary goes a little insane during their ten days of 'business development' and 'networking'...but at the RoundUp they are all together, wearing their urban cowboy outfits, getting bombed and having a blasty blast.
The heat that has been killing me slowly since the beginning of the week did not let up for the event yesterday. I was sweating through my shirt before I even arrived at the gate. How do we get over being in an endless 30+ heat? With something over 7%. Praise baby Christ that we got hooked up with a bar in the shade with my fave Stampede bar tender Cody.
The heat did not drive anyone away from hearing 54-40, Matt Good and the always fantastic Gord Downie and the Tragically Hip. It was quite a line up, definitely aimed at the 40-50 year old demo, but I wasn't complaining. I mean, I was...but because of the GD heat.
Another year, another successful Stampede RoundUp. Now please God...LET IT RAIN.
XOXO
Jes...
