Top 5: Former Calgary Stampede Parade Marshalls

Stampede 100 is just around the corner, 17 days to be exact.  So what do we do while we wait in anticipation for the liver ruiner of the century? We reminisce of course.

To start off the Stampede the city puts on a parade. One of the most notable entries is of course, the Parade Marshall. This year it is country singer Ian Tyson...which is legit, if you are ancient.

Last year we thought that William and Kate would be in the parade...and they would have been the most epic Parade Marshalls ever. Alas, they just watched, but there have been good people in the past. Here are my faves.

Prince Charles (1977)
So Royals CAN be in the parade...but only if they are fugly.

Three Stooges (1963)
The original idiot 3 were in the parade in 1963. The bowl cut at its absolute best.

Walt Disney (1965)
This is probably my favorite. Walt had time to come to the Stampede. Ballin out of control. I don't even know who would be his equal now that we could compare this 'get' with.

Bing Crosby (1959)
The songbird himself. Any decent old school musical starred Bing. I am not sure who was booking the Marshalls in the late 50s early 60s...but they had connections. Seriously.

Christopher Reeve (1993)
Christopher Reeve was super into equestrian activities which would make him a good link to the Stampede. He was the Parade Marshall two years before he was thrown from a horse and landed in a wheel chair for the rest of his life.
