In Review: Blue Man Group

Ever wonder what the Blue Man Group actually does? Me too. So when I got the chance to go see them at their first show in Calgary I grabbed it.

After seeing the show...I still don't know what the hell it was. A noise show? Art? Theatre? Concert? Mimes? All of the above? Seriously...spastic is more of what I would use to describe it. All over the place and at various points entertaining.

One of the keys of the show that made it enjoyable to the people around me was the audience interaction. People love attention don't they? Well, some people...I hate it. I cringe when the blue headed alien looking men start walking down the aisles looking for their victims. I would have crawled into a hole and died had I been part of the couple that arrived late and got called out with a 'you're late' song. I definitely would have been more pissed and resistant than they guy who was brought on stage as a human paint brush. It made me uncomfortable and I wasn't even on stage.

So I was hoping to give a little clarity to what the Blue Man Group did...but I can't. It's weird....performance art if you will. I will never have to see it again, but I likely won't forget the clusterfuck that was that show.
