Movie Madness: Out This Weekend

Holy smokers. It's Thursday already...and it's February. You know what that means...time to really get down to business and start watching as many Oscar flicks as you can, because once awards season is over the average joe is not going to have any reason to watch those movies that they would be completely uninterested in at any other time. I still highly HIGHLY recommend The Descendants. It's definitely Oscar-ish, but not as brutally painful as The Artist.

Anyways...here are the movies coming out this weekend. (Oscar nominees are noted*)

Albert Nobbs*
Glenn Close has a nomination for her role as Albert. This definitely looks like a Oscar type movie. If I don't watch it this month...it's never going to happen. Zzzzzzz.

Big Miracle
This movie was based on a true story? That makes me want to go punch a baby in the face. The only thing legit about this movie is John Krasinski playing Jim Halpert as he does in every movie/show he has ever been in. Drew Barrymore is playing the role that she has played once before...you know the one, in Never Been Kissed where she was a weirdo nerd high school student that they made seem borderline mentally disabled? Yeah, I see that character is coming back to her.  Also...those whales popping out of the ice make me want to cry from fear. WHY AM I THE ONLY ONE TERRIFIED OF SEA CREATURES?!

Chronicle
That was like a weird Paranormal Activity/Documentary/Superhero combination...I am not sure if I would like it or hate it. You kind of think...hummm could be good, until the end of the trailer and you see some glowing light shit that is probably aliens. Tres lame.

W.E. (Limited)
Ewwwww. I HATE that I want to see this movie. I would rather not have anything to do with Madonna if possible. This story reminds me of a book that I read once, but I don't remember the name, but it is intriguing. I also like Skylar Grey's song that they used for the trailer...and not one by Madge. Dammit, I am probably going to see this and like it and hate myself the whole time.

The Women in Black
Aw Harry Potter is back. Sorry Dan...if you are the child we watched grow up through a series of 8 movies in one of the most successful franchises of all time, there is no way you will ever kick the association with that character. Oh, and as for the movie...the effing music box in the trailer creeped me out so bad I am almost 100% pos I am going to have nightmares tonight. Pass.

My Pick: Oh my God no. W.E. is the only one that I would go see. Thank the Lord it is only a limited release.

XOXO
Jes...
