Bon Iver won't be performing at the Grammys

So irritated.

Justin Vernon, lead singer of Bon Iver, was recently interviewed by Billboard about their Grammy nominations etc. He said that they would not be performing at the show because they were asked to perform but were told they couldn't play any of their own music...that they had to collaborate with another artist.

We wanted to play our music, but were told that we couldn't play. We had to do a collaboration with someone else and we just felt like it was such a large stage -- we're getting nominated for this record that we made...and all of a sudden we were being asked to play music that had nothing to do with that. We kind of said 'fuck you' a little bit, and they sort of acted like they wanted us to play, but I don't think they wanted us to play.

Bon Iver is nominated for Best New Artist, Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Alternative Album. Those are some pretty big categories to be nominated in and NOT perform.

Although I am really sad that they won't be playing, I am happy that Justin Vernon is not selling out. He has always been pretty outspoken about industry garbage that most people bend over and take up the ass.  I hope they win...although I think they will probably lose to Adele in certain categories, they better not go home empty handed.
