The People are sometimes wrong: People's Choice Awards recap

The People's Choice Awards were last night. Did you watch? They were average. Watch the above clip and it pretty much wraps up the evening from the context of hosting. Kind of funny, but very try-hard.

I want to comment on some of the awards given out because clearly, the people are not always right:

Favorite Movie Icon: Morgan Freeman
Did people misinterpret Icon as Narrator? Cause if they did, they got it bang on, but Icon? Over Ford, Hanks, Clooney and Deniro? Puh-lease.

Favorite Drama Movie: Water for Elephants
It was a glorious moment when Robert Pattison didn't win Favorite Actor, but Water for Elephants - Drama? Over The Help and Moneyball? Even more depressing. That movie was horrible. I blame this, as I do everything wrong with the world, on the Twi-hards.

Favorite Movie Superhero: Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern
Oh. My. God. I love Ryan, but that was probably the worst superhero movie since...Batman and Robin. And that is saying something since Elektra came after that.

Favorite Movie Star Under 25: Chloe Moretz
I agree with this, this girl is a gem, but I just wanted to point out that the other nominees were the entire cast of Harry Potter...completely shut out. Sad for them.

Favorite Network TV Drama: Supernatural
I am consistently blown away any time this show is nominated and/or wins an award for anything...especially a category which it barely fits into. Drama? Seriously. Gross.

Favorite TV Drama Actor: Nathan Fillion
I am not going to disagree with this because I have never watched Castle, the show in which he stars. I would like to point out, however, that Nathan is from Edmonton. Canada, represent. I am surprised that his fans, who presumably like him because of his role on the now defunct show Firefly, came out in force to help him win a People's Choice Award. Admirable.

Favorite Late Night TV Show Host: Jimmy Fallon
I love Jimmy Fallon...as a person, not as a late night host. He is the WORST of all the hosts, besides Jay - who I hate on principle. How did Jimmy beat out Letterman, Kimmel, and Conan? And why wasn't Craig Ferguson nominated? So underrated.

Favorite Song of the Year: ET Katy Perry feat Kanye West
This is the worst Katy Perry song ever...and that is including the days when her name was Kate Hudson and she sang Jesus tunes to 10 year olds. It was probably the only one on the list that, at  the time of voting, hadn't been completely overplayed to the point of ear drum death.

Well that's a wrap...congrats to the winners who I have not mentioned. You, in some way, deserved your award.

XOXO
Jes...

...and since we are on the topic of voting...you can vote for XOXO Jes in the Canadian Blog Awards which run until Jan 20 in the categories of Best Humour Blog, Best Blog Post, and Best Pop Culture Blog!
