In Review: Transformers: Dark of the Moon

The third Transformers movie was so much better than the first two I don't even know how to explain it to you. Oh wait...yes I can. It was minus one Mrs. Megan Fox aka the Trailer Trash Poster Girl. I can't even begin to tell you how having a movie sans Fox changed the entire dynamic for me. Not that the new girl was a hell of a lot better. Way less trashy, but still completely void of personality.

Unlike the second movie, which I almost completely forgot seconds after I saw it due to lack of depth, there was quite a deal of back story in the third. I very much enjoyed how they worked in multiple conspiracy theories into the plot. Why the Americans landed on the moon was quite riveting (ok, that may be a push).

Those who were in the movie impressed. John Malkovich and Ken Jeong had stellar characters and I was deflated when I realized their roles were not carried throughout the movie. John Turturro was back again as the crazy guy from sector 7, but he was not as funny as the first two. And Patrick Dempsey...I don't want to ruin anything so I will just say - his hair was perfection on a head.

For those of you who care about the actual Transformers - yes they killed things, there were explosions, and Michael Bay did it the Bay Way.  There was more humanness in the robots than what I previously remember. There is an old crazy robot that had Einstein looking hair - too human.  A red liquid would come out of the transformers when they would die, which I can assume they were wanting to look like blood - come on. And then there was the ripping out of the "spine" of one and one acting like it was in "pain" when getting it's eye pulled out. Um, ok. Fail.

Overall I was entertained and still confused as to why people think Shia Labeouf is so attractive, but that is to be expected.

Verdict: 3.8 Stars

XOXO

  1. Totally agree, hated the second one, third much better. Two thumbs up on hating both girlfriends though!
