Does this mean Days of Our Lives will be over soon?

One Life to Live and All My Children were officially given the axe by ABC after they released a statement saying, "Guided by extensive research into what today’s daytime viewers want and the changing viewing patterns of the audience, ABC is evolving the face of daytime television with the launch of two new shows."

OH MY GOD. Does this mean that they are going to have to wrap up 40 years of loose ends on All My Children, which had been on the air since 1970? Cause that is f-cking hilarious. I don't watch soaps, and when I did it was Days of Our Lives and for a brief brief moment Passions...until the live doll started freaking me out too much...but I do know that the same shit was strung along for YEARS, so I could only imagine what a task it will be for the writers to wrap it all up. That's intense.

As the World Turns was cancelled in 2010 and Guiding Light was cancelled in 2009. There are still other soaps on the air (Days of Our Lives, Young and the Restless, the Bold and the name a few) but I wonder of other networks will follow suit and kill the never-ending stories of their own.

This is a great day for daytime television...depending on the new programming, I may change my mind and become a housewife.
